Im replacing my magnesium aileron bracket with pre war steel brackets, the magnesium brackets have a phenolic cable guide attached to them, the pre war do not . My IA wants to know if it is ok not to have a guide as the magnesium brackets do . Any help would be appreciated.

At the very least I think you'll want some form of rub pad on top of the hinge. The cable runs are long and not that much cable tension so it is likely the cables will contact the hinge. An alternative may be to add support for the cable at one or more of the ribs.Scott
