Re: wing tank
Forrest, Thanks for the reply, this plane has been in the same family for 60+ years and they only fly it around the patch and haven't used the wing tank in 40 years. so he wants it left out. Is the any paperwork involved if I leave it out and did any Tcraft's come with only a fuse. tank? Thanks, Keith

Re: wing tank
Its a simple enough change, but should be FAA approved to stay legal. I can issue a DER approval for this and you can reference the change on the 337 with approved data. We will need to make sure and remove associated placards, etc. Send me an email if you need my help. [email protected]Terry Bowden, formerly TF # 351

Re: wing tank
Keith,
I agree with everyone else here that you should try to talk the owner into keeping the wing tank. The small amount of weight you will save is not worth the inconvenience of having a small fuel capacity. If they insist on leaving it out, I would at least try to convince them to use the 337 I donated to the foundation to put the sheet aluminum panels over the wing bays where the tanks go. That way, if they ever decide to sell the plane or just change their minds, the tank could be reinstalled without having to do fabric work. It would make the plane more valuable if you had the tank, fuel line, and valve available as part of the sale. A copy of the 337 is available in the resources section of the foundation's website.Richard Pearson

Re: wing tank
Fuel capacity 12 gal. (-9) (See item 312 for auxiliary tank).
Right off TCDS 699. It was my understanding that the wing tank was optional and therefor no paperwork would be required to remove it.MIKE CUSHWAY

Re: wing tank
Mike,
RH wing tanks (without LH) were standard (not optional) on BC12-65, BCS12-65, BC12-D, BCS12-D, BC12D-85, BCS12D-85, BC12D-4-85, and BCS12D-4-85.
Both LH and RH wing tanks were optional for the above models plus the BC12-D1 and BCS12-D1.
LH wing tanks (without RH) were optional on BC, BCS, and BC65.
All B-series models have the 12 gallon fuselage tank as standard.
So any combination not covered above would need approval.Terry Bowden, formerly TF # 351

Re: wing tank
Small point here for info mostly, no critique intended.
If its listed in the tcds you can make the change with a log book entry only.
No 337 required in cases where the change is listed in the TCDS.
But there is nothing wrong with doing a 337 especially since it records it permanently.

Re: wing tank
If its listed in the TCDS as an option then yes, but if its listed as a required item then its a change to the tcds which then requires a field approval or some other data for approval. Tim
