Very well done, Chuck! Thanks for sharing the photos and 337... it appears that this approval is a true "field approval", which is worthy of note here. Some people may wonder why there is no signature in block 6 and block 7 at the bottom of 337 page 1.
So far, you have only the approval of the design data alone. The airplane paperwork for this major alteration still needs...
Block 6: a conformity inspection signoff by an I.A. or other rated inspector
Block 7: Final signoff by an A&P for return to service.
And if I recall correctly, you are still in the midst of your overall restoration, so these will come later. But now with the approved data in hand, you are good to go! Great work!
As of today the wheels, axle sleeves, and calipers are on the airplane and the floor boards are repainted. The master cylinders are mounted to the floor with aluminum floor plates for your heels to sit on. As far as the 337 my AI is confident of my work and will finish the 337 when it's finished. That should be by Christmas!!!!!! . Will post photos of completed job when I am finished. Just think we started the paperwork on the 4th of December. Got it back from FAA on December 17th today is the 19th and the job is almost complete NOT TOO SHABBY!!!!!!!!! for a old guy.
My FSDO wouldn't even consider it, it's no sense even trying.

Thier directives dont allow them to deny, ask for a coordinated field approval and if they still give you grief, start talking to supervisors. I went to OK city and complained about my fsdo and things went much smoother for me. Tim
something to remember here is that field approval is only approved data for the orignal modifier. For everyone it is supporting data to do another 337, not garanteed.
The brake project is finished all fit very well the brake pedals on the scott masters are in the same place as the original pedals and feel jest grate will get some good photos as soon as it warms up will try to do taxi test tomorrow AI will do sign off the firest of next week marry christmas chuck and shannon
What size pistons did they use in those calipers. They look huge! Have you used them yet? How does it feel when you brake? I bet you can make some tight turns with one wheel locked up!
the calipers are not as big as they look they are two piston but small diameter have not tried them yet hope to taxi test tomorrow will keep the tribe informed on my tests Chuck
Thanks for the pictures. I will be using Groves master cylinders installed under the floor. I like your installation looks nice and simple. I already have the Grove master cylinders plus all the hardware to install the brakes so I will stick to my set up.
