    Re: Glove box

Be real careful making your glove boxes guys. The first one I made the gear on the front of the control wheel shaft snagged the corner holding the wheel in the full down position!
Lucky it was the first instal and the fuselage wasn't even covered. I could see clearly what had happened. Since I had to make a new box anyway I did a little test. I pulled back hard on the controls and the "Hat Shelf board" box crushed out of the way really easy. The next one I made a little "corner" on it so it would have good clearance with the controls. I also have a clamp at the front to keep the box from "cocking" to the inside and catching if the box was to move. A simple rubber edged wire clamp around a tube worked great.
If the controls jammed in flight I don't know if I would want to have to crush a metal glove box for up elevator!

Be careful with even simple mods to the aircraft. The rules against modification are written in blood!

        Re: Glove box

She has been mounted and tested 4 times.Good clearance at the yoke. The way I fastened it to the panel will not let it move from side to side. However I did decide to make a braket so I could also bolt the back(forward facing)part of the box to the tube for extra support.Long story short.....it has lots of clearance and can't wiggle loose.

                Re: Glove box

same as the hole in the panel, extending back so it clears the sprokets by a good margin.... They were a folded over and stapled hardboard material same as the panel below the seat in front of bungees. Will look for specs in
                the backroom today.

                  Re: Glove box

I have a small supply of early metal Bonanza glove boxes that we have used that are a near perfect fit. They are even flocked.

There's a couple of glove boxes on Ebay right now.....they don't look original to me, but the same guy has a good looking glove box door listed seperately.

I have two that are aluminum. I think the F series may have had aluminum ones.
