    I will. That way any issues can say they're the original.
    But I expect a 25 - 30 lb increase with the change to metal prop, two added instruments, gel batt., VHF and ADF.

      Bungees are here. 9090's but stiffer than I expected.
      Am now ready for the Bungee tool. . . but there are some complications.
      ...PM OK? Need a walk-through and some answers. "Stuff happens"

        Bill do you have a Taylorcraft Tool you are asking about?

        Dad bought David Rude's bungee tool, "The Taylorcraft Bungee Tool" and I've attached a copy of his instructions.

        With Credit and copyright to Dave, these were provided with the tool purchase.

        Plus a good article on shock cords that has a nice date code chart included.

          The safety cable drawing is probably for post war, pre war will be a little shorter.

            Mark and Tom: I have the bungees they're red and blue so latest date? = 2017. And seem really stiff to be stressed at so light a load setting compared to the others. I still need a bungee tool and Tim was the first to offer me his. Shipping both ways is what I'll pay. It's the one in the You Tube video am told but will take any I can get.

            Thanks, Mark. I'm in FL but don't know Tim's location so whichever is less in shipping is AOK with me.

            NEXT challenge is getting the same shop - now under different owner - that booted me out of annual with everything in pieces waiting for cyl heads to loan me a hydraulic engine hoist. Since am unable to move the plane in its present configuration they will have to loan it out the two or so hours I'll need. Say a prayer pls...

            AND - DO I need new cables? Old ones are intact one holding while one has slipped..can't tell yet but no signs of damage otherwise. ...If so, WHERE can I get new ones?? (Edit: The ones listed in Aircraft Spruce are too short and thin. Seems they're supposed to be a replacement for safety wire.) Nope. Have to pass. -Univair? Still looking.

                Stacy Ledford was making Bungee tools (a copy of David Rudes tool) recently and selling them on the Taylorcraft Facebook site, you can go there and private message him and probably buy one, I do not think he is asking a lot.

                      I've given up using bungee safety cables. For the last 25 years or more, I have not used them in my UK 1946 BC12D because they cause more damage to the bungees due to chafing/rubbing than they are worth.

                          If you don't route the safety cable correctly it will tear the heck out of the bungees! There is a drawing on how to route it but I can't put my hands one it right now.

                            Hank the video Mark posted shows how to place the cables on the INSIDE of the cords next to the frame tubing. Seems long as they're separated there is minimal rubbing.
                            I'm studying it as mine are done and I have new ones. Wish me luck. No hoist so am going to have to beg my shop for theirs.

                              In the past I have used a couple good ratchet straps around the lower gear area by the wheels and kept the gear pulled in place to change the cords.

                                May have to do something like that. The safety cable on the rt. mount has slipped off the post so that entire side is supported by necked-out cords that were way overdue anyway.
