ID:	193708 Well we had a great day for painting here in South Carolina . Finally got the interior of the cabin area plus the fully dissambel"d H" bar and rudder pedals. . Sun Valley Ivory color came out great!

    So neat to see another plane close to my 45 (43196). I am wondering how many later planes still had the little "U" channel under the forward edge of the door and across the middle front where the floor board plywood was supported (I need to look at how the metal floor planes were done!) I just finished doing the final fit up of my floorboards and the three tabs along the tube just behind the brake stop support you will notice the middle one is slightly left of center. Found out that REALLY simplifies putting the floors in! With the left half in first the center tab can be reached under the panel to pull the plywood down in it's curved place. That makes the Pilot side screw line up much easier (floor board is retained by the center screw, and the two "U" channels). I then take out the center screw and the larger washer under it. The passenger side floor board now slides into its two "U" channels and the RH and center holes are aligned by the edges so the last two screws go right in! The middle one has the larger fended washer so it lays across the floor board splits and holds both sides down. A REALLY ELEGANT design for putting in and out the floors! My 41 is a ROYAL PITA to put the floors in on! The 45, just a few minutes!

      Hey Jim, I was shown on my rebuild of a 46 BC-12D to look down each stringer and shim if needed to make sure they are perfectly straight. Looks great!!!

        Good advice. Always helpful to have those that have been there done that chime in.

        The wood stringers in particuler can easily be installed incorrectly with someone not staying consistent with the holes drilled in the wood or for that matter the fuselage holes off in the hold fitting.

        Mine terminate on the top side of the fuselage at the wood cross member piece supplied with the Clayton STC Skylight. They are held at that intersection with the same small steel angle pieces used from the door frame to the boot cowl.

        Details galore indeed !

          Jim,

          The small steel angle pieces were not in a perfect line as I looked down them. I had to make small shims on several of them to make the stringers form a perfect line.

                Thank you Bruce.i thought about blacking out all the tubing that is seen under the windscreen and in my case also the Skylight but thought not for two reasons. First they we all painted as the interior when my Dad restored her with his partner in 1967. Interior was all beige. Second. In keeping with that idea with what I think a cleaner twist it now will be Sun Valley Ivory which is what the base color of the plane will be followed by Insignia Blue ( dark blue) trim in the deluxe paint design scheme which ( the design not colors being used here )was used some in ad copy but in reality never used in production. You do see that design a good bit now. Frankly I aso like the simple diamond / stripe down the fuslage as well.... This plane was a deluxe but was definitely metallic blue with so far an unknown trim color. When I do the archeological dig in the wings I may find out ( many had silver trim with that color)

                      You shoot with a gun, and you paint with a brush. This particular gun shoots paint.

                              Jim, do you have this 1941 Deluxe brouchure that shows these colors? Unfortunally it doesn't define what they are but shows the 5 color combos. (of course they don't name them).
