  • Rib nails

What does everyone use for nails attaching the aluminum ribs to the wood spar on the Taylorcraft., So far, I've only been able find 14 ga X 3/4" used on the Citabria and champs etc. The rear spar on the Taylorcraft is only 5/8", is there a source for 1/2" spar nails?

These are the only tiny nails I could find...13 mm equals .51 inch.

I checked all the aircraft suppliers and could
n't find the 1/2 inch size.

I used various lengths of cement coated nails from Aircraft Spruce. But just check the website and they don't appear anymore.

there's a lot of this going around!

This is what you're looking for anyway:

We carry more than 60,000 parts for General Aviation aircraft. All parts are shipped from our warehouse in Germany. Approximately 10,000 products are in stock for immediate shipment, and all other parts are retrieved from Aircraft Spruce through our weekly air freight consolidation.

Don't use the same nail holes in the ribs (unless you have new spars)

Thanks for the info. That must be an old catalog. The current catalogs no longer list any AN 301 nails of any size.
