  • ADS-B out flight test

    Dr. Tim or others.
I have installed and programed a Sky Beacon ADS-B unit in my Stinson. I'm ready to do the flight test. AC 20-165B contains a lot of information on a suggested test flight. Is there a simpler profile that can be flow to accomplish the same goal ? If so, I'm curious as to how...

  • I will be talking to them at the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering in Anchorage early next month. I hope to get some answers to some basic questions like "if rib stitching is required, how do you do it in a material you can't see through when the needle comes up from the backside?" I will probably...

  • Oratex fabric covering

Does anyone have any history with Oratex fabric covering? I'm thinking of using it on the L-2 wings. I really don't need fourth-hand opinions gleaned at the coffee shop, just facts. I will have it done by a professional shop since I know nothing about the application process. Oratex sounds too good...

  • Rob,
What kind of covers did you eventually put in? When my Stinson was recovered, they put the inspection cover too close to where a rib and spar meet and the usual covers that are available are very difficult to remove and install. Since you have to slide the retaining spring tab way-in past...

  • Already accounted for. I have already taken the old rib out and moved it to its new location. It is just a temporary installation to check for fit and the tank was installed and wires were attached and everything fit OK . I will be making a new rib as the 75 year old one needs to be retired, especially...

  • 3Dreaming hit the nail on the head, almost. The root rib remains the same. The L-2 wing "notches" are made of fairly stout aluminum. I'm just toying with the idea of adding nutplates to that semi-conical part and adding an additional aluminum trailing edge rib section and installing nutplates...

  • Scott,
Thank you very much for your reply. Beautiful work on the wing. From the looks of your wing, it looks like they make a left and a right (mirror images) stamped wing rib. They also look new, where did you get them? The rib that I'm actually trying to replace is the first rib outboard of...

  • Ok guys, It's back to the place where I started by showing my ignorance of the Taylorcraft B series wings. Bear with me because all I have reference to is the all wood L-2 wing. My area of concern is the series of stamped aluminum ribs that are between the aileron bay and the wing root, not including...

n6346m posted a Visitor Message for Ragwing nut
I didn't know that there was a left and a right. Are we talking about a stamped aluminum rib or the steel rib also known as the number on rib in the L-2 parts book? Looks like the computer ate your original PM regarding the rib, That's why I an responding to this message. I'm really looking for a stamped...
