Has anyone heard of James Steenland? I stumbled across a video where he is saying that he is putting the T-Craft back in production. Video is dated two years ago.
Mike
James Steenland Brownsville Texas - same location as last known Taylorcraft TCDS holder https://player.vimeo.com/video/280738535 soliciting investors for Taylorcraft - "How to become a millionaire in aviation? Start with two" Hope he's successful
State of TX charges a dollar to search for a business entity, so not sure it is worth it. The Church does appear to be listed in the state records from other sources.
Things that make me go Hmmm..
Why isn't he listed as part of the team on the church website?
Why not join this forum?
Facebook users, is he in the Tcraft group?
Why not give the pitch in front of, oh I don't know, an actual Taylorcraft instead of books?
Why not reach out to your parts customers first to get cash flow for the business, i.e us.
Wouldn't you actually form a business so you can legally raise money?
Nothing wrong or inherently evil about asking for investors with money that are interested in aircraft. But first read P.T. Barnum's "The Art of Money Getting" plus quotes here:
Thanks for the input, guys. Just seemed strange to me that he has apparently made no effort to contact T-Craft owners. After all, we are all a matter of public record (FAA). Just curious.
Mike
A few people have said they went down and were supposed to meet with representatives of the "company". No one ever showed up from the "company" and no one has gotten in to see what is there that I have heard from.
What about the TCDS holder for A-699 BF and A-700 BL (Taylorcraft, Inc. Connellsville Airport Connellsville, Pennsylvania 15425)? Why can't they be a start-up?
No matter the legal holder of the TCDS one of the big issues is the tooling. There are replacement parts available just not all. It is darn difficult to have an economical process to make parts for a very very narrow market to sell them to . As much I am a fan of the plane it really could use a good update to the airframe bigger wider cabin (one glaring issue) .
We are starting to see some more quality restorations but even those athough in any volume.
Another thing to keep in mind is manufactures have a nasty habit of beating an AD drum to sell parts... sometimes what we wish for is a dog better left asleep
