A feature that is missing that I really liked was the listing near the bottom of each page that showed other threads usually on the same subject as the thread title. I believe there were 5 similar threads listed. Kind of an automated search by subject.

I noticed that 'Signature Files' were not showing up in the posts. I searched the vBulletin support forum and found similar problems. One post stated that if the user was not logged in, the signatures appeared. I logged out and sure enough, signature files appeared in the posts I viewed. Logged in and signatures disappeared. I then went to my user profile / edit settings / account / and checked box about half way down page to Show Signatures. Signature files now show up in posts.

Another box folks might want to check is on the same page. Under "Display Mode," checking "Latest Activity" will allow the "getnew" search to work again. It would be nice if there was a link for "New Posts" as well.
EDIT: Or not. It would still be nice to have a "New Posts" link that will show unread threads.Last edited by Anymouse; 11-23-2018, 16:02.Later!!

I didn't realize how often I looked at the location for the person posting a response in a thread. That is until now that we don't have location showing. I would like to see it back if possible.

I have been looking at the member list and sorting it by "join date"
Almost 300 new members since early November, new software install
Almost 400 new members since Jan 1, 2018
In this day and age, I should probably know this, but why would a entity, i.e. group or organization, target a forum such as ours? Is there a way to mine sensitive data from other members? Why would so many new members need to be created? Am I becoming paranoid about nothing, or should we all be concerned?
Or perhaps there is a renewed interest in our airplanes and the value is about to skyrocket....Along with that ocean front property in AZ.

There's some mining personal data for various reasons. Personal info and e-mail links allowed for and available to other Members by choice. Want to sell woody...finances...receive an African or Afghanistan bounty from another member? Look for sources which these Forums have become.

I think maybe it is time to have new member requests either provide an N number or a message showing an aviation interest (at the minimum). Maybe we need to put a door lock on the member info section that also requires your N number to get in (or an assigned number for those still hoping to get one of our planes).

I see occasional spikes in hits to my blog. These spikes are associated with Russian Urls. I and many other bloggers have contacted google but nothing happens. Nothing malicious has occurred and its been going on for several years. I wonder if a similar thing is occuring here.
If it's possible to restrict access to eastern block URLs this may be wise. Can work around that with virtual IP but it might weed out a large percentage.
