Most things seem to be working OK with the new upgrade. There's a little itty bit of learning for us all to do....generally all the old features are still there; it's just a matter of learning where they are!

There are some issues with images (for example, smilies) but these are minor and will be addressed as things progress. We can still post images, hopefully more intuitavly. [Unlike my spelling].

The "Preview" button, while we are writing a post, certainly gives a better image of what the post will look like.

The main reason for the change was instigated by me...the old Taylorcraft forum used login details that were on an unsecured site, with the risk of spammers getting hold of our login details.

Through Ted and Bob [my thanks to them], this whole forum (and all logins) and indeed the Taylorcraft Home Page are now through a secure server. If you look at the top, you will see https instead of the old http (guess what the "s" stands for).

I hope that helps folk understand why we have a new appearance (it came with the upgrade!)

    Rob

Found the New Topics tab, that will work, thanks.

Thanks Mike Jones, I looked all over trying to find a 'Mark all Read' tab.
      Cheers,
      Marty

Hank, you can set the style (colors) you like in your user profile; top of the main page.

Hi Great work on the transition to the new version/secure login.

A bug I noticed is that when clicking on the <new post> button is that it pulls up "all" past posts not the ones that have updated from the last site visit. It is now "remembering me" from a login status when returning to the site, day to day.

The other bug noticed is when going to an individual post from within the "new post" listing page/result and then back again it is treating the "back button" action like a new search and the "you must wait 15 seconds" between searches activates and locks you out until time has past.

It didn't do this before and it should not treat a <back button> return to the new post listing as a new "search". It should be treated as a return to "results generated" or "filtered listing" based on activity since last login because "back" is not a new search request.

            Thanks, Mark

Another thought on appearance. Perhaps it would be nice in the blank banner space at the top to post 3-4 photos to fill it up. And then rotate them out, say on a monthly or quarterly basis.

The source for the photos could be from those selected by Nick for the annual calendars? Thus the screening job is only once annually.

Or pulled from the Stories/trips section at discretion of "admin/monitors"

              Just a thought. Mark

Mark, I had to go to the bottom of the forums page and click on " all channels read". This fixed the New post since your last visit issue. With the upgrade it thinks this is your first visit, and that you have not read any post yet.

Sure Marty, it took a while to find that. It kind of blends in and not too obvious!

Otherwise I'm happy with the updates. Thanks for the work guys!

I did and it works great now. Getting used to it and liking the new version better every day (but I do miss the nose photo of the trim strip with "Taylorcraft" on it).

I have a copy of the Taylorcraft nose if you want it, but it isn't a major thing to change the photo here (at least to me). It is nice to see new photos. I am kind of addicted to Taylorcraft photos (just ask my wife!)

That is not an "A". That is a picture EAA took of my Oshkosh grand champion BL-65 back in 1994.
