Re: Pre-war welded aileron hinge fittings

    I was just kidding around.
We tend to make this process too tough. If you don't like the new stuff that gets made don't use it, take your chances with the corroded factory stuff if that makes you feel better.

Price quote for CNC hinges is $750 per ship set, 10 ship sets required at that price. You will have to reuse your steel ends hinge ends. Everything else brand new. I don't know that you could build the prewars for that. Lots of tedious cutting, folding, and welding.

So there is 5 hours of mill time for that cost? It is about $180 in material if you use 7050t6851 per ship set, programming should only be an hour, two at the most and is a one time cost...

Does "a ship set" mean two inner hinges, two outer hinges, two complete middle hinges with belcrank and shaft assembly?

              Dave

p.s. if so that sounds pretty good to me, although I don't need any

yes that is correct, you will have to reuse your steel mounting ends.

Re: Pre-war welded aileron hinge fittings

Got a bit tied up but have the costs to make new welded aileron fittings. The hinge fittings with the bell crank will cost about $600 each ( the ones on eBay look like a great deal right now). On the better side we can get the regular hinges for $40 or $45 each depending on how many we need.

                        Hank,

Are the tack welded end fittings still available?

Never became available. When the price estimates came in no one wanted them. I will still probably build the fixtures to make them when I build up my 45 wing, but with no one else wanting them it hasn't got a priority.
