Just a wild guess, but the center hinge with the bellcrank.

Re: Pre-war welded aileron hinge fittings

Yea, guys. My mailbox here is full (AGAIN!) and the system won''t let me in the site archive. Anyone know what the problem is and how I can get into my stored messages? I can't even get in to see them right now. Only option is to delete them and I hate to do that.

          Until I sort this out my regular email is h j a r r e t t 2 at c o x dot n e t (Please don't tell me anyone here can't figure that out). ;-)

Any advice on how to get into the message storage at the site appreciated.

            Hank,

I am interested in four outer hinges. Just started disassembly of 46 BC12-D and have the cove corrosion issues (the center crank fitting if fine).

Just added you to the list. Should be going to the welder for a quote as soon as I finish the annual on the 41.

I'd be in for a full set.

I have added you to the list Randy.
We have 42 hinges ordered and 9 1/2 crank fittings. I think the cost of the hinges may be very affordable with those numbers. The crank fittings are still going to be pricey but will come down with every one ordered. We need to AT LEAST beat the price of the one on ebay!

                  Hank

Of course if someone buys the ebay one the value of the new ones will increase (but not the price).

                    What is the estimated cost?

Is this one on ebay for a B model or and L2?

B for sure, don't know if D/L-2 used the same fitting.

We don't have a cost yet since I have been caught up in an annual. Bolting everything back together this week and hope to be done by Monday (my IA got SLAMMED with planes needing work the last two weeks! NEVER seen 4 and 5 planes on the ramp and both hangars FULL of planes!)
Hope to get to the "builder" next week.

One post said there were something like 43 on order. Do you want to lock in a price before you order?

I guess I should say wanted, not ordered (ordered to me but not contracted to be made yet). I won't actually start MAKING them until I have a price QUOTE (not estimate) and get verification from those who want them that the price is acceptable. I have a bad feeling than everyone will want the hinges, but the bell-crank fitting will be EXPENSIVE.

I think you are right about the belcrank/hinge.

If you got for 3x the ebay price it would be bargain.

Lots of detail work and a complex jig/fixture.
