CVAVON.....you lucky bastard, lol. My wife tolerates airplanes in the hangers 50' from the house, and puts up with the constant aviation traffic in and out on the weekends and occasionally on weekdays, but if I bring airplane stuff in the house,I'd better be wearing a helmet because that iron skillet really smarts!! I hung a beautiful muti-grained wood prop on the living room wall one day while she was at work and it took me two weeks to talk her out of burning it...while it was still on the wall!!!lol. She puts up with it and supports my aviation madness but she's not personally big on flying anymore like she used to be...I must admitt that it has affected us a bit but she's still a great gal.

CVAVON, BravoIt is great to have a supportive partner with this madness. My wife is great but the line is drawn somewhere at the basement and kitchen area. She let me cook my mags in the oven for the 500HR and if I get a new part or toy she'll let me keep it in the living room and fondle it for about a week before it needs to find a permanent home. And she loves to fly.
If you need any advise on how to mount the cyllinders call Baumann Floats in New Richmond WI. They put a t-crate on amphibs and did a nice install of grove cylinders under the floor for the hyd, brakes. They used the orignal heel pedals.

          T-rex

I have a set of Scott heal brake masters that i will use.Berry Grove sized the caliper to work with the 300 psi they will make and said they will be on the bottom side of the strength that the brakes will produce but should work fine

Re: Grove disk brake conversion for tapered axls

I'm interested in a similar conversion. I put Grove wheels/brakes on my experimental Pietenpol Aircamper project years ago and I really like them.

Hoping your FSDO approves without issue. If so I'm sure those of us who are looking for a similar conversion would like a copy of the paperwork to help push our FSDO in the right direction.

AtLee Dodge makes the same type of adapter for a cub to go from a 1 1/4" to a 1 1/2" axle. A standard cub uses four AN 4 bolts, I think the number of AN3 bolts in the picture will be plenty, It's not a boeing 737.
It would be most helpful when you (and other folks who provide 337 documents) show the back page (Block 8) of a 337 if an image of the front page was included. If it has an FAA approval stamp, all the better, but the information on the front page is most important if one is trying to get a FSDO to approve a similar modification and if one can establish prior FAA approval it sometimes helps with a co-operative FSDO.

Larry I agree with you about 337's need to be complete . Talked to the faa inspector yesterday he asked about the 337's i included in my paper work and where i got them as they were ones he signed of when he was in Alaska he also did not need the front of the one that shows the axle sleeve as he also signed it off he is now in the Nashville FSDO 40 years with the FAA fly's a super cub and knows tub and fabric airplanes for once the rite FAA person for the job may have approval by end of this week.

I don't have much experience with the FAA's approval proccess, but that seems fast! Great job and continued good luck.
