  • BC12-65 Bungees

    Hi,

am planning changing the bungees on G-BPHP which is a BC12-65 serial 2799.

My understanding is that I need 9/16 x 9" rings but wanted to double check here in case people know better.

Fortunately we have the proper tool to hand but am approaching the job with a certain amount of trepidation!

That should be the right cord. It is not that bad of a job to do with the right tool. I like to hoist the airplane and tie the wing down opposite the gear I am working on. It is also a good time to check the upper and lower gear bolts and bushings. Tom

...and replace the gear bumpers, Colin. I have some available.

I know you've done a lot of fine work on BPHP, but the bolts & bushings are worth examining and replacing (where required) if not already done.

I also have the real proper tool, if Jones & Co don't. I'm experienced in doing the bungee replacement if you need a hand.

Hi Rob, I may take you up on the offer of help if that's ok as it is a job I am not looking forward to.

The bolts have been replaced and the bushing are fine.

Current no 1 problem is sorting the tailwheel as it isn't locking as it should.

It's a bit like owning a boat isn't it? Always something to do!

Not exactly like a boat. A boat is a hole in the water you throw money in to. An airplane is a hole in the air you throw money up in to. When you throw money down, it doesn't come back, at least SOME of the money from an airplane comes back down.

I keep saying that hoping that my wife will someday buy into it. So far she just rolls her eyes.

The light weight bungines sagged on my BC12-65, I went to heavier cold weather ones to survive the -50 winters. Tim

Rumor has it that one 9010HD or HDX over the two 9090's can work too!

Instead of 3 bungies, look at L2 ones

The L-2 ones are either 1192 or 11104 ; there is the 1110 also . This makes the system pretty stiff .
