Okay I will jump back in on this thread, which picture? If it is the Young handsome man with the clip wing , that is me!! I will change my Avitar soon to show the aging me...... AT the present time the Foundation structure will not allow this entity to engage in manufacture of parts, planes, etc... WE agreed to stick with the Mission statment. HOWEVER, the other thread on Announcment of the sale is a fourumn for MEMBERS of the Foundation and OTHERS to discuss and possibly form a pruchase group.
Remember last time there were four prospective purchasers from completely outside any Taylorcraft Association connection.
Discuss and have fun, I may merge these two threads to keep it all in one place ; Hank if you intended to split , then do so again.

I would pony up to a piece of the assets (even more) as discussed but I would need to see how the Foundation is going to manage it first. Ideally someone that wants to be in the business needs to step in and do it right. I use to work for Thunder Aviation here in the St. Louis area. The business is owned by Larry Moscoff who is a millionaire from the pharmaceutical business. He found out like all the rest the way to make a "small fortune" in the avaiation business is to first start with a "large fortune".

Rumor has it that in one of good ole Harry's bankruptcies that he bought the company back off the court steps for $38,000. Chump Change. That's the way you buy stuff like that.

I was also employed for a whole 24 hours (maybe it was less) by the Visionaire Company in St. Louis. They were trying to join the VLJ market with a single engine 6 passenger jet. The protoype was flying but not well and they went belly up the day I was given a job. There was suppose to be a 100 Million in that firm and it went in court almost 2 years later for less than 2 Million. The prototype had already been sold and was still flying for the company on a lease back. This was a last ditch effort to make a few $$$ to stay solvent. To little to late.

I just received as a gift the Taylorcraft book (exact name escapes me). Man,,, our little airplane has sure had its ups and downs,,, no pun intended. All starting with the great Mr. Piper and CG Taylor taking it in the shorts from Piper. It never stops! Gotta love this little airplane.

Hey Forrest,,,,, do you really look like that!!! (picture in the book)?

Keven is right on target (as well as others). The $750,000 will NOT get us an operating factory (FAR from it!). Those who put money in WILL NOT make money (we will be lucky to be able to recover the basic investment with NO interest). What it WILL do is allow us to at least have a chance of controlling the future of Taylorcraft. Several people have offered space to store the physical assets and the Foundation is the logical holder of the paperwork. As I see it, anyone holding (or representing) 100 shares would be on the "management team". That keeps the number of people making decisions down. If each person with one share tries to manage we will have 1,00 Chiefs and no Indians, which would be slightly better than one corrupt Chief at the top. Better to pick 10 people to make the decisions and trust them to do what is best for all.
Anybody know how many people are in the Foundation? Total club member count? We may want (need) to change the size of a share.
    Hank

    PS
Forrest, any idea what the heck my Foundation number is? If you tell me again I promise to try and not forget it this time. (Key word, TRY) ;-)

Well if you want to count numbers , it is all avaialble to you users; this morning we have 1071 folks registered, about 60% are paid up Taylorcraft Foundation members. Somebody always starts other threads, over there they are discussing money.
I HAVE posted all this before , from past experience since 1968 with Charles & Dorthy Feris I feel that at the present time it will take 2-3 million dollars after the acquisition of the assets of Taylorcraft 2000, LLC .
Then you have to look at what is left there in Brownsville or wherever it moves too.
Taylorcraft Aviation, LLC (Harry Ingram) may still play a role if there was not a clean settlement. Remember this was a foreclosure, I am sure many folks that are owed money will now get into the courts for recovery.
I am now going to monitor the situation, make phone calls, intertain phone calls, AND go this afternoon to the Sports Complex and exercise and blow off steam. THANK you all for your patience, I have to comply with the wishes of others to maintain their confidence. keep the discussion going. Maybe Warren Buffett is the answer :yahoo:

Try twice that much more or triple. Right now we are just talking about enough t-craft members to put together enough cash to buy it so the foundation will own the rights. This way the foundation can contract people to make parts or what ever. It will also make drawings more accessable to us all and possibly factory tooling too. It would be a very wise investment but not one where you think your going to make money. Like said above, the more of us there is to put up money the less money we will need to buy it. I know of at least 5 to 10 people around here who would put up a $1000 +/- who don't have a computer and are not club or foundation members. I could put up a substancail donation myself. Let's see what we can raise.
Forrest, Do you think Mr. Patrick might work with us a little while we try to raise money or do you think this entire thing is a bad idea?????

I just arrived home, it is 11:10PM EST , I have two messages from Scot Ruffner that he was trying to post the following:
yes that is Scot with one T ; I am still Forrest with 2 r's.... sorry Scot !

    Phone (561) 547-7931
    Fax (561-547-7932
    NOTICE TO TAYLORCRAFT OWNERS
    from Harvey Patrick, Managing Member
    TAYLORCRAFT 2000, LLC

I have had D&E Aircraft management on-site at the Brownsville operation for
several weeks while we entertained offers to purchase or refinance Taylorcraft
Aviation, LLC and regretfully we did not succeed and were forced to repossess all assets of Taylorcraft Aviation, LLC on February 21, 2008.

My team worked with the FAA MIDO and Engineering offices to finalize approval of the new lift strut design and processes; these were verbally approved on February 29, 2008. We expect written approval this week.

D&E purchased materials and hired Taylorcraft's employees and a DAR to build 13 lift-strut sets which will be available for purchase from D&E Aircraft upon receipt of written approval from the FAA.

I regret that we cannot fulfill orders accepted by Taylorcraft Aviation, LLC prior to my repossession of the assets.

D&E Aircraft will relocate the Taylorcraft 2000, LLC assets to their facility
in Lake Worth, Florida and will operate a PMA facility to supply parts to support the fleet until we can find a purchaser or gather the necessary management team to operate Taylorcraft 2000, LLC.

    Sincerely,

    Harvey O. Patrick

I wish I had the $$ to buy the TC. Someone needs to do just that and put a good reputation back into the name of Taylorcraft airplanes.
I wish I could buy it as advertised too, but not enough $! I have 113 acres of ground, 40 miles north of Brownsville, a two runway airfield, a 4000 sq. ft. hangar and am an A&P, IA, Professional Engineer, experience managing a large multimillion $ manufacturing facility, and years of aviation background as an engineer for the Navy over the years.
Have plenty of room to build a factory and am not beholden to any city or anything. It would be an easy move to here.
