Gallons of Aerothane needed?

Using Sunvalley Ivory (AEROTHANE) over the silver coat. How many Gallons should I need to shoot the entire plane ? Trim will be traditional style with leading edges and diamond and stripes in Insignia Blue

Polyfiber says 6 for Aerothane and 4 for Ranthane. It'll depend a lot on your gun, and technique.

I have heard six for Polytone. Using Aerothane so should be less HOWEVER yes technique is key here. Many variables indeed!

I just bought 7 gallons of Aerothane for my Rearwin. 6 was recommended but since I had it color matched instead of a standard color I decided to get an additional gallon just in case. This was a test of my N-number masks and and different trim colors (Santa Fe vs Tennessee red). Base is a 2020 Jeep color called Gobi.

Aerothane coverage sucks over silver. I would apply white or ivory polytone prior to aerothane for better coverage and truer color.

You are correct. Undercoat the aerothane with white polytone.

Reversing the scheme. Insignia Blue with a few Sunvalley Ivory accents. Will let all know the results. It will be a couple of months no matter.

How do you think the dark blue (insignia blue) in Aerothane will cover over the silver?

Probably OK. The problem with red and yellow is that there is not enough pigment compared with other colours (this is the nature of pigments). So you should be OK with blue on silver.

I was orginally mentioning Sunvalley ivory..I could see that not covering over the silver as well as perhaps the deep dark blue may.. I am trying to use as few coats as possible not only about weight (I can also stand to lose a pound or fifty) but also the difference in durability when applied too thick.

Whites generally cover better than colours. Sounds counterintuitive but is especially true with reds. The final shade of reds is heavily dependent on the base coat colour.

Best to do some text pieces to fully understand how to end up with the shade and consistency you're looking for.
