  • who had the wing wire?

I need enough to do a pair of wings. Not sure how much of the original wire is reusable. Just prefer to install new. Thanks.

    Mike,

I tried recently with a spring company in Detroit.. They had the right diameter wire. They went radio silent on me after I sent the engineering drawing. I never said it was for aviation nor did the drawing indicate any such thing. I may have stumbled onto the guys making the Martin wire

Just viewed NOS Taylorcrat Clips advertised E-Bay, by "Big Props Aviation", asking $125 roll.

Make SURE it isn't the wrong pitch between the clips. The wrong stuff is easy to get and a LOT cheaper than that. The RIGHT wire is what is hard to find and that might be a fair price (till we find a company that will make it).

              Hank,

              I hear you!
if it is not correct I pity the seller. I have some great contacts to deal with federal issues...

I have a company to make it, I just don't want to have it done and then sit on the stuff for the next 20 years. This is my last and final taylorcraft build besides my clipwing which I am going to build wood wings for.

I like to suggest someone younger or just an old fool step up and get the company from Mike and get the crap. I am an old fool just not enough appetite for that at the moment after fooling with that damed company in Detroit.

I've become the old fool as I have been messing with tcrafts since '86-'87. I have other projects now that need my attention.

I can easily send a sample off and get a quote. My problem is by the time the wire is made I won't need it anymore. Usual backlog is 2-3 months. Not sure what it is right now.

Sounds like a perfect time for pre orders (as in when you have a contract to make it people here buy all that will be made before you execute the contract. Get teh numbers and hold on to your seat. ANYONE with a post war plane being re-done is going to want some.

Go ahead and get a quote, I might be able to be that guy.

So after purchasing the taylorcraft clips through e bay and money sent through pay pal and debited in my account and was told item was being shipped lo and behold I was given a credit back... sooo either they realized I was not going to screw around with the wrong item being sent as in Martin wire (see my post above) OR ...more likely someone called the company and bought them directly...either way no big deal. I will just re use mine again.....quite the way to go any how as not just doing a "simple"recover.....
