    Hank,

I just spoke to the lady down there. She said send it to the address you already gave: K&S Wire Neosho MO 64850 ATTN: Crystal Sinks. By the way what is the diameter of the hole in the rib?
Also provide a telephone number and e mail address. If needed use mine. [email protected] 803-309-3130. Matters not

Will provide yours and mine, just in case. I will be going out to the hangar in the next couple of days and get the wire sample and rib piece (or a piece of the same thickness aluminum with match drilled holes). Will advise diameter of holes. I think I have a damaged rib I can just cut the top flange off of.

          Why not riblace?

We have debated this many times now in the groups. Many owners think rib lacing on stamped ribs is acceptable. Many of us don't. Not a time for going through the whole thing again. The people who want to go original and use wires are trying to get the wire. If you want to lace, go ahead, but I have seen the edges of the ribs cut the lacing (that some have never seen it is irrelevant) and I won't fly in a plane with laced stamped ribs.

Tim Rib Stiching. Yes that is one other option and yes I do see it on post war models as ok with proper protection to keep the lacing from chaffing on the edge of the stamped rib.Rib stiching as was discussed in a thread you were a part of back in 2018. Personally I want to keep the plane as original as practical so that would be my reason not to rib stich the wings .

I will attempt salvage of the wire currently on the wings is how strongly I am about this if we cannot source it. I think I have a few that would purchase the correct wire if we can.

Bottom line originality . That said things like fuel valves.... (which is my next request) I would rather see changed to better than new. Original only goes so far with me.

Agree! For some of us originality is really important. Only exceeded by safety. It is a choice made by owners withing the limits of he regs. I tend to lean towards safer than the regs require wherever I can. Properly done lacing on stamped ribs can be safe, I just don't trust anyone including myself to do it safely.

OK, I have samples of OEM Wire and a crash rib I will straighten out (the flange for the holes is not badly damaged). I will straighten the rib enough to fin in a reasonable box with the wire samples for shipping to the manufacturer. Everybody keep your fingers crossed!

Yea, weather looks petty bad for the second half of this week. Tomorrow and day after look pretty good (if you are driving).

Brought home a tip rib, full length and an outer wing (aileron bay area) rib to verify hole counts as well as the OEM wire. Just need to trim down the rib section so the wire company will have a sample for verifying spacing of the clips.

In the near future, my dad and I will be recovering my grandpa's '46 Taylorcraft and are shopping for wing wire. I don't see a follow up about having new wire made. Was there a positive outcome?
