    Someone ...anyone have enough Taylorcraft wire left sufficient for two wings?

  • #2
    Jim,
    Run the traps. I did a '46 with an STC that replaced the wires with screws like an Aeronca Champ or Chief (YEARS ago). The STC was applicable to only those T-Crafts with stamped ribs. Sorry I don't remember much more. Maybe someone here can help. I talked to the STC holder back in the day.

      Mike, interesting. Was aware of the fabric rivet STC . Thinking about it I do seem to recall some discussion on use of PK screws....?

          Also at=> https://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_G...e?OpenFrameSet

          Look for SA-217

          I never found the one for rivets it must be embedded in the Stewarts system process and is only used with their product.

            I have some original NOS Taylorcraft wire left over from my rebuild, but probably only enough for one wing. It's here in the UK, so for shipping would be better to wait until I can get across the Atlantic and mail it locally (hopefully later this year).

                Thanks Sully. Stewarts also sells rivets and I suspect they also have rivet use embedded in the overall process.

                  If it is any help, there is a 337 posted by Tim P. on the taylorcraft.org website for using rivets.

                  We seem to have lost the link to this website from the forum pages.

                        Has ANYBODY ever found a wire bending company in their area so we can get more Taylorcraft wire made? I find it hard to believe with all the manufacturing we have near Norfolk VA there aren't any wire bending companies!
