Well OF COURSE!!! I took the box with a bunch of long strips out to the airport last week! I did find one section and it looks like a perfect match to the WIRE_CLIP drawing from J. ANDERSON. We just may be on our way! Let me know where to send a sample piece and if they want a section of rib material to test fit to.

One thing, the wire I have is .083 or .084, NOT .032 but the piece I have here does look like stainless. The older stuff looked like music wire. I will have to measure some.

Hi, the drawing was made from a piece of Taylorcraft wire provided by a forum member. When the drawing is plotted full scale on a plotter the wire matches. The drawing was created by measuring the part. Other than word of mouth I cannot verify it is from the factory. Note don't make parts off printed documents, only make things to dimensions. Hardly any printers and most cheap plotters DO NOT print accurately.

K& S in NEOSHO MO say the smallest they work with is .078 which they have in stock in stock. Min $500 to run it. They cannot do .032. Hank is it really .083 OR .084 ? Mark , what are your thoughts on the diameter?Comment

The piece I measured was only a few inches long (just a piece to show the bends and spacing) but it measured between 0.083 and 0.084 on a vernier caliper. I will take a dial indicator out to the airport and measure several pieces I saved when I took the fabric off of the 45 (kind of thought I 'just might" have to reuse them someday!)
If it IS the correct size and they have a $500 minimum I think it is time to do a bit of measuring and see how many feet we need per wing (with some waste in case someone messes up). I will take a measure next time out. Once we know how many feet per wing we can get people to commit to the number of wing sets they want and the company can give a final price per wing set. This will probably work a lot like the mass buy of bungees....with the exception that the wire will store really well and it would be a good idea to get it while you can if you think you will ever need to recover your wings!

The 500 minimum is for wire they have in stock... 078 was the smallest of what they mentioned they have in stock..It may require a special order to get the wire the size we need which will change the minimum amount .
ASS shows in their catalog for the Martin wire Which they erroneously claim original for Taylorcrafts.
:rolleyes2: Any way IF their estimates are correct they say it requires 225 feet to do Both wings?... I am going to go look today to verify that. They sell in 25 foot pieces at around 15 per

Ok just measured.. I am geting 216 feet needed. ASS is about correct on quantity anyhow . Interesting they state 3 inch spacing between crimps (actually they say hole spacing 3 inches) with the Martin wire.... huh? Everything we know it is 3 1/8.....Comment

That's why we need to give them some original wire AND a rib! That is the only way to INSURE the wire will work properly. A little error in length can cause a lot of problems.
