  • RLB ACCESSORY SERVICES Addison Illinois

Any one here that has done business with this gentleman ( Robert- Bob- Bejna)… RLB Accessory Services IN THE LAST THREE YEARS? Reason asking . I just spoke with him re sending a C-90 Stromberg. He seemed to want to talk and repeated himself a few times. Googled the shop and read two Yelp reviews (after my phone call) and saw a poor review in 2017 on some Scintilla Mags as well another on a Carb a fellow sent him off of a Champ in 2016. That particular gent had previously been doing business with him for years...but VERY unhappy …… Reason asking as I was referred to him by a gent I respect..I believe it has been YEARS since my friend di business with him. Any other places to recommend?

I had a 500 hour inspection done on a pair of Slick mags a year ago. Good service and quick turnaround. He is a regular speaker at out IA seminar. I think he knows his stuff, but just talking with him might give the wrong impression.

Where have others here sent their Stromberg with great results?

Stromberg NA-S3A1 carb? You could send it to me! (non-certified, non-FAA, the other side of the pond from you), so just in jest! I know these little Strombergs inside out...I have five on my shelf ready & freshly overhauled for UK customers.

If you want a US-certified service, try http://thestrombergspecialist.com/index.php/services but I believe you will be relieved of up to $900 for the priviledge.

How do you keep the discharge nozzles from breaking off? I had 2 that I could not get out...and they just sheared off.

Tim: You mean the main discharge nozzle, the brass pepperpot (66)?

If that's what you mean, I'll do some photos for you tomorrow.

Robert .Thank You. (Yes $900 seems a bit steep for the simplicity of the Carb.....) I know zero about it BUT with a proper manual ?

One of the problems is that the manuals are old and not really complete or comprehensive, or "proper" (in today's terminology).

I overhauled my first Stromberg carb about 30 years ago; it didn't work properly.
I have learned a lot since (largely by overhauling many more of them! and test-flying them!)
I guess that is how " The Stromberg Specialist" learned his trade too.
I don't knock him; he does an excellent job, what with the FAA paperwork etc. I have met him several times at Oshkosh and gleaned little snippets every time.
