I bought a pair from Mr. Wenglarz but due to my rebuilt configuration w/o lower wood formers they won't fit tight against the belly. One had a small preliminary slot cut to clear the gear strut that goes to the bungees, but the other is as received. If you could use them let me know and I'll send some pics. I also have or had the upper gear seals or fairings that go over that area from him unused. I'll have to look later to see what's in the Blazo box I keep that stuff in.
Edit: The bungee covers must have been left at the mechanic's shop. The upper fairings are still here. I'll call him and see if he kept the fairings.
Yes, I had a set that were a crude fit as well and rough shape, so I removed them years ago. I want to replace them as the bungees should be protected from the elements as much as possible.
I do have the new gear fairings one of the IA's I work with made and perhaps he will do the same for the bungee covers. If you come across your covers they may work for me. Thanks!
Just got a reply from a fellow on Craig's List and he replied;
"No bungee covers on hand but they are quite easy to make. Use .063 5052-0 aluminum and hammer form on a shot bag and then roll out smooth on an english wheel. Should take about an hour to make. I've made several sets over the years but no longer have the dimensions from originals."
Maybe it's time to move into the 21st Century and have some local Alaskan like this (http://www.carbonconceptsak.com) build a bungee cover set. I bet they know how to make a mold and vacuum fab some covers.

They are close to me so I will check them out. Could be if there is enough interest it could benefit the many.

That would be a neat trick! The "magic" of Craigslist iguess

I met and talked with Randy, owner of Carbon Concepts. He said no problem with making a mold and that he would retail at $35 each piece. I told him that I would be in for set and perhaps several other parties as well if I got the word out. My covers are so cracked, bent and beat up that they would take some work to use as copies for his mold. I would like to find another clean set to lend him for the process. I will do some looking in the neighborhood tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip Gary! Carbon fiber is some amazing stuff.
I contacted my mechanic relative to my unused covers. He can't find them and mentioned a year ago (it was two when he had them) someone asked about making copies for their use. He may have lent them out and never got them back but was going to look more in some Connex containers he keeps used parts in. "Never a lender nor borrower be" but sometimes to help....
I would think all it would take is some body putty to make a mold out of beat up covers. Even reforming some rigid foam insulation board to match? Maybe Lee at Airforms (https://www.airforms.biz) would have some. He had T's and I asked him about making covers once before I bought mine from wenglarz.
Not sure but carbon fiber might need shimming and support for fasteners as it "may" not take a flex like soft aluminum. But once it's done it'll outlast the old models. There's a market for fairings and covers no doubt.
