  • Trivia!

Ok, to get some activity going on the site, I am going to post some random aircraft trivia questions. After there are several (hopefully many) responses, I will post the correct answer along with where it came from if no one gets it correct. This will get me back in the books and can come from Advisory Circulars, TSO's, aircraft/engine maintenance manuals, parts manuals, etc.

Ok, here is the first question: What is the maximum number of electrical terminals allowed on a stud on a terminal block unless specifically authorized for more?

    Re: Trivia!

How long's the stud (;-) Ok, I know I should look it up. Ground studs tend to gather quite a few.

    Gary

    Edit: I looked it up.

        Re: Trivia!

On my plane it is zero. I don't have an electrical system. Unless of course you are referring to the stud holding the control wheel. ;-)

I am assuming you want some humorous responses too. I will try to think of one for the next question. ;-)

That sounds like more of a test than trivia. To me trivia would be something like, "what was the first aircraft instrument?".

The first instrument was Orville's face. When it hit the sand that told him he had landed.

Actually it was a barometric altimeter from a balloon that was adapted to an early "aeroplane". The Wrights had a ribbon tied to the front of their plane fro some flights to indicate the direction the air was flowing, but I don't know if that counts as an "instrument". It IS still in use on most sailplanes and a lot of jets.

Well for an owner its trivia, for a mechanic it would be more like a quiz, just something to keep people active on the forum.

              4 was the correct answer

So another question, what is SWAMP?

And 3 electrical terminals if that stud is attached to a buss bar. Smallest lug on top.

No I didn't find that on the chair after I stood up.
