Re: ok Im back into the fold and have a couple questions

The records show it is a 1945 BC-12D owned by David Taylor and the registration is expired. The address is in Missouri in Rolla. The SN should be 6464. If you don’t have it the bill of sale from him would probably go a long way towards getting the paper work back in place.
I have LOTS of info on the early 45 planes and there are a few things that could be different from a typical 46 BC-12D. My 45 is completly apart with no covering and can be a source for any detail photos you may need.

Lots of people can refinish it.....if you want to hang it over your fire place. Just be sure to use a really reputable prop shop if you want to fly behind it. I would start with the manufacturer. There will be other places who can do a good job, but you need to research them individually. Almost always safe with the manufacturer.

I am assuming it is more than normal wear to the finish. Your IA will tell you that.

If its a sensenich you can send it back to them. If its something else, the watsonsville air museum is the only certified wood repair station outside a manufacturer. Per AC43, re varnish is the only thing an A&P can do unless they have changed the rules again. I noticed your in Stillwater, you could always bring it to me and I can do it for you. I may know a thing or two about wood props, and I have the balancing equipment. I also have a ton of parts too.

On the struts: I just received my final 2 (rear) from Wag aero and unless you are very near Aero Fabricators (or other source?) the shipping of your old struts to them for sealing will bring the cost very close to that of buying new ones with one way shipping included.

Re: ok Im back into the fold and have a couple questions

Getting the airplane registered to the new owner is the first order of business. You will need to track down the last registered owner or their heirs and get a bill of sale, and supporting documentation that they can sign the bill of sale if needed. Occasionally there may be other issues that will require attention, but a call to the FAA registration branch will set you on the right path if that is the case.

A replacement airworthiness certificate shouldn't be a problem. Once the airplane is registered by the new owner he can request a replacement certificate form the FAA. All it takes is a letter to the local FSDO from the registered owner requesting a replacement certificate, because the old certificate was lost. This is assuming that the airplane has been issued a permanent airworthiness certificate. If it hasn't had a permanent certificate issued then it will require a conformity inspection.

I'm assuming you ordered the FAA CD on the Aircraft. Just want to be sure that's what your waiting on. Lots of good data re: the ownership/lien t and 337 data that was filed with the FAA.

                          and the plot thickens

The plane data plates show it to be a bc12d

                          it has a lycoming 0145

data plate in the cabin shows it as a bc12d w lycoming motor and matching serial of motor

the plane says its a 1945 as registered previously

fuselage has separate trim elevators near the tail wheel

Yes i have the FAA info and only show a 337 for the stits and at some point a mounted strobe that is no longer there

Looks like we may have another potential "Frankenstein". Not to worry. Some of the nicest "Ts " out there are mixed years and heritage. Unless you are an originality nut like me, you get your plane together with reasonable parts mixes that are safe and acceptable to the feds.
I don't think there were any 45s with trim flippers, but you could have a left over pre-war fuselage (they did use a few left over from before the war when they started production back up). I WOULD NOT put it past them to have used a pre-war flipper fuselage on a post war plane. y 45 has a BUNCH of "funky" differences that took me years to document and figure out.

I have seen your work before Eric. She will be a beauty when you are done. Just make sure you get her so she will survive a configuration verification with your IA. ;-)

                            Hank

Have fun removing all the junk on the plane that is NOT in the logs!

45 models are a bastard mix of parts starting with leftovers being used up of 41 parts. I can't say that I have seen a 45 with the flipper trim. the 45 wing is all to itself, steel tube prewar doors, I thought they had transitioned to later trim system but yours is a very early 45 model so who knows. BTW i sent you a pm
