    Re: Unshielded ignition ends

I used SN63PB37 lead solder and a big soldering iron, Silver brazing requires a lot of heat and is not necessary for a nonstructural installation like this. Tim

      Re: Unshielded ignition ends

Do I bring the multi-strand wire through the hole and spread it out around the brass and solder it flat around the hole? I have not found a diagram, etc of how it is done.
      Thanks! Jay

That is what I did, works fine, do not use rosin core solder, just need electrical/electronic solder and a liquid flux. Clean off liquid flux with alcohol when done to prevent corrosion.

          Re: Unshielded ignition ends

I did mine like Tim describes. I had one wire that was assembled with one (old but still soldered on) That was how it was done. Looked like a squished spider covered in solder.
Wish I could find the solder I used. All I remember was it was NOT eutectic solder and had a higher melting temp but was NOT true Silver solder. Probably over kill for temp. If the clip got hot enough to melt the solder in use the plastic would have already failed.

            Re: Unshielded ignition ends

So I have the cigar ends (AN661) for the spark plugs and will install them on regular spark plug wire.
However, What about the magneto end of the wire?
The new mags (see photo) are expecting the spring connector from the new harness.
Not sure about that end. Any advice is appreciated!
            Thanks! Jay

You will need to get someone to install them onto a slick càp
