Well, if someone is going to make one, I could use one too.

The problem is there are so many different shapes and colors. The casting process with multi use molds works great and can help keep the cost down. A 2 or 3 knobs per mold is nice for short runs, but drives cost up. We are NEVER going to get to the point of making true mass production in our small group but we need to know how many of which ones do you guys want. That will determine how they are made and how much they will cost. I can tell you no one here is going to pay what I would want to make one from scratch again. The first under panel knob i made I would have had to charge about $50 each for to make them that way. Casting them? With my low use molds, I would guess $10 each. If we were making hundreds? Well, you get the idea.

SO, What is the demand for which throttle knob shape ( and next, color)?

Black needed here. $50 WORKS but it needs to be perfect and ready to simply attach to a new cable

$8 is a GREAT price, even if not marked! If someone gets one, please post a photo of the face. If it needs markings I have a way to add them to the face. I had an IA say I MUST have all knobs labeled. I wouldn't make them for $8 each. Looks like the market so far is for other colors and shapes. Great posts! Also just an important check, make SURE of the thread you need! Doesn't do you much good if it won't thread on.

On the small knobs there are a BUNCH of different shapes. Be sure you get the right one and on those my IA was pretty strong on markings. If you don't mind doing it you can put the marking on the bottom of the panel above the knob. Mine was like that when I bought her but I wanted it to look original. I will see if I can take a photo of all the different small knobs I have for making molds and post it. There are SEVERAL different threads on the small knobs! Also, the mag switch shown was a first shot try. It is WRONG for a 41 Deluxe but I don't have the new placard done yet to put behind the correct shape opening.

This is the new panel insert cut out with the correct lever. Just need to re-silkscreen the plate behind it. The "L" should be "Mag" with a "1" below it and the "R" should be "MAG" with a "2" below it like in the second photo Details details!!! But it is getting there. I already made a mold from that lever and will be casting a replica so I can build replacements for the lever mag switches with a modern key switch behind it. Note that I "think" the MAG 1 and MAG 2 switches were a pre war thing. Anyone else have that markings? Where was it used? It IS in the factory 41 photos.

The face is NOT marked. I have one (from McFarlane) on my Navion. I got it as an option on a new cable because it feels better flying formation. Aircraft Spruce also has the same knob.

Yes. Also McFarlane has no listing for a Taylorcraft throttle. Also needed. Back to square one

The throttle ball and all the small knobs in my photos were cast with NO markings. They are added after the knobs were cast (it would cost a FORTUNE to make a different mold for each small knob!) If I can get the markings in WHITE to apply on a black knob we might be able to make it work. Of course the flat spot pre war knobs would be even easier. It was a sticker originally, but I don't know which planes used that type.

I machined a pocket and installed a round placard in ours.

Who here knows what LENGTH cable to order ?? I see ASS has one cable with the exact knob we have been discussing. It is for experimental use only ...probably the same cable that was on it ! As in back In the day...or one like it !!
