There is NO PART on our planes that can't be made. We have better tools and materials now than they did in 1941. My hangar and garage are better equipped than the factory was (I keep trying to tell myself). Now if I could just get a FRACTION of the SKILLS of the people who were in the factory!

No , I should have. I believe I gave it to the guy that bought the fuselage. Could kick myself for that.

CONTACT HIM!! Even if you don't get the paper back he should understand its value to nut cases like me! Old log books are FULL of interesting information. Most of my old entries are just humorous. I did make a flight with an astronaut who was also a flight instructor and he signed my book as "under instruction". I guess that means I DID make a flight for NASA! Work related too. We were flying back from the FAA Tech Center to NASA Langley after some meetings. Only bad thing was when we got back it was really late and he wouldn't let me land the plane. ;-(

Ryan. Is your throttle knob original? I am hunting one for a late March 46 build. Do you have a pic you can share if so.?

No my Throttle knob is not original. It was one that Josh had made several years ago. Mine is black but I know there was red and also white. It looks just like the one that Hank posted. The one we have in the 15A i believe is original and it looks the same but is cast in white. I will look for some pics...

The ones I posted were ones either Josh or I cast. Josh made nicer ones than I did, but both were better than what you can buy from a commercial supplier. There are also a LOT of subtle shape differences depending on when your plane was built. Tim is also making cast parts and is as much a perfectionist as Josh was. Not sure when he may feel ready to start selling them. Haven't talked to him for quite a while. I need to message him. Haven't heard from him for a few months.

I am getting a picture from Ryan. His is not original but is black. Josh made it. I am thinking that our was black a d that is what it should be. I recall that is was dark. So you think Tim can make one or might have some?

I will try to post some photos of the different shapes I have collected so far. These two are early types. The black one has a "sticker) on the face and has aflat area where the sticker is placed. The second one has an unusual cross section and very pronounced knurling around the waist area. It is actually a very comfortable knob, just kind of strange looking with no markings on the face. Click image for larger version

Some new colors. The top right two parts are center pieces for 41 Deluxe Banjo Wheel centers I have been trying to make (NO, they are NOT ready yet).

Left side middle one is an original "ivory" knob. That is how they look after 70 or so years. I had one that split apart and the inside really is still Ivory looking! Lower right corner one is also an original from the 40s. I will need to take some photos of the new castings (post Josh units)

That black one is looking familiar. You said early so probably not for a 46..even if it is an early 46.
will see what Ryan's looks like

I would look at acs if you want a custom knob, the have the machines that might be able to do it.

We aren't trying to do custom knobs, just reproducing replica knobs that were used by the factory. That was why I collected any different knobs I could find. It REALLY helps when I can find a factory photo so I know who used the parts on which models. Many times they turn out to NOT be Taylorcraft parts. I found some small control knobs that turned out to be used on Fleet bi-planes. I gave them to the Fleet guys in Canada. They keep their eyes out for things for our planes too.
