i am kind of new to this so i am not sure
could i send you some pictures of the existing doors that might help??
is there anything i could look at that would tell you which version??
thanks
Banjo yokes imply a B*12-65 Deluxe, although someone could have replaced yokes at some point. What is your N #/serial #/ model # on the data plate? IF you have a '41 B*12-65 Deluxe, those had wooden doors originally. They are the same shape as all other pre-war doors, but for sure at least the latches are different and wouldn't match up to the fuselage. I doubt you would find serviceable replacements, check with Tom Baker here on this forum, he may have blueprints for the wooden doors. Yes, pop rivets sound home-made, or at least someone re-skinned steel tube B*-65 non-Deluxe doors and modified the fuselage to make them work. Pics would be very helpful.
Thanks dave
Tom contacted me and is seeing if he can scan drawings.
sad thing is the banjos and tcraft nose trim was cut off the plane by someone who broke into the hanger while plane was in Wisconsin.
I am still trying to figure out how add picture to the reply. The N number is N29747 i am traveling and don't have serial number with me. Thanks again. Paul
She is SN 2594 and is a 41 BC12-65. Should have originally had the wood doors. I have the wood door drawings but you need to be forewarned, you better be a real professional wood worker to build them.....and the fixtures to build them in.
I tore mine completely down and rebuilt them. I didn't have fixtures so I used the fuselage as a fixture to get the pieces all back together right. It was a LOT of work. If you decide to take it on, the advice and lessons learned are free. IL to VA is a bit far, but not impossible.

I would like to give it a go, i have a close friend who owns a custom cabinet shop
Tom was working on getting a drawing from his Dad, if he still has a copy
i will gladly pay for a copy i also have the ability to scan large format sheets for copy or PDF
what is on the outside? wood, fabric or aluminum??
thanks for your help and let me know what i might need to do in order to get a copy of the door plans
The inner and outer skins are thin Ply. The interior structure is built up from square and rectangular wood. There is also a bad weak spot in the design. The fore and aft vertical wood window frames are too weak. When I rebuilt mine I put Carbon tape over the wood frame and put the ply over the tape (sandwiched in). My window frames are strong as stink now. HIGHLY recommended! I also used "T" nuts and machine screws instead of wood screws into the frame. MUCH stronger and the T nuts are hidden under teh fabric.
Once you get the drawings (I should still have mine too if you have problems getting them) remember your doors will NOT necessarily be just like the drawings. I made up the door frames in the fuselage and custom fitted the doors to the frames. My doors sound like a 1950s Buick when they close now. Really a SOLID sound.
