That goes to the old original burble face compass. It is used to swing the compass for the correct heading when installed in the airplane. DO NOT THRO IT AWAY! As I remember, someone was looking for one of those awhile back on here or Facebook. Very rare find. If nobody wants it in the next couple of months I will make arrangements with you and purchase it myself and put it in my parts catch.
One of those parts you shoot for "good enough" for most people to not notice. When I make critical parts I push for something you can't tell is a copy (I especially like it when I have to TELL my IA I made it). Later I go back to the slightly flawed ones and do them again. I will never be done! No need to be sorry for the cover not being perfect, one day I will hope I make better ones (if i live long enough!) Engraving "Taylorcraft" into the face was a real bear! I had to learn how to engrave in small pieces of aluminum.
