Re: bc12d landing gear repair
Well you missed out on a set of jigs and multiple gear legs that were scrapped on the east coast. You can buy new gear from Univair if you are wanting it now. If you are doing a repair, just cut the gear and do some measuring. That is the best I can do. Tim
What do you mean by an inside sleeve? are you wanting to sleeve the inside of a tube?N29787

Re: bc12d landing gear repair
I have bunch of new repair tubing that I bought to use when I was interested in doing repairs.
If you want to buy it I will sell it.
I recall buying tubes to do inside splices and also for sleeves and larger dia. tube splice and also streamline tubing.
I am the one that scrapped the jig, sorry you were not here in January

Re: bc12d landing gear repair
For drude, ain't got the hang of this site yet Thanks for depressing me about January
I would be interested. I have to build pilot side and repair the other all 3 main tubes. How do we label left/rt. ?
Let me know what you have and need for money. Would have to ship to Maine.

Re: bc12d landing gear repair
I'd contact this Certified Repair Station and ask about gear repairs or possible fabrication: http://www.fadodge.com They worked on my landing gear for the previous owner.
Another source may be this Alaskan company: http://www.airframesalaska.com/Default.asp
There may interest in this industry to accommodate the Taylorcraft community.

Re: bc12d landing gear repair
Good to know they can't or won't build replacements, but Atlee Dodge can do repairs. Building and liability are married in the aviation world so I see their dilemma.
Yes on the other gear builder. Rumor has it (if it's him and not another soul) even makes long gear for experimentals if desired.
So there we are with old gear subject to the ravages of age and weather. They can be repaired or restored. If new cost $2K a side then that's the cost of flying.
Where do the tapered axle assemblies come from now?

Re: bc12d landing gear repair
As far as I know Luke is only builds straight axle gear, and will do extended. When I spoke with him a few weeks ago a set of 1 1/2", 4" extended was $1500. That was for a Maule type gear with me supplying a shock strut, not a bungee gear.
