When out in Alliance I saw NOS sprockets. Just call Forrest if you cannot get through to him via e-mail. E-mail to him for many of us is sketchy at best. Call him at: 330-823-1168
    Cheers,

I have five, one is new old stock but has no sprocket (I think).

4 of mine are still on the "H" control.

      Email me at [email protected]

I would sell some but I tend to not give them away.

They were about $80 new in 1985 as I recall.

I did a lot of work on mY UJ's to clean them up.

The initial design was poor...just a hollow square section with some AN3 bolts.

I welded up and then re-drilled & reamed the sloppy holes.

Aw gee! "The initial design was poor" seems a little harsh. I see it as elegantly simple and imminently repairable when worn out. The biggest problem with the design is it is almost ALWAYS missed when lubrication is (not) done resulting in worn holes. If you DO catch it on performing lubrication, wipe it carefully afterwards. It will drip oil on your pants for a week!
As someone who works with design engineers who would build a bowling ball with 300 moving parts and a proprietary battery I think that little "U" joint is beautiful in its simplicity. ;-)

Thank you for sharing.... Dave has some U Joints that I have agreed to purchase.. However, I will pass this along to Bob Coolbaugh, builder of the Curtiss Pusher in New Market, Va who is restoring a TCraft.

BTW, Bob told me last week that he landed the Curtiss at Barber Airport several months ago......

Re: Control U Joints and sprockets

"Ps" and "Qs" refers to Pints and Quarts. Back when the pubs in England sold drinks that way the bar maids had to keep track of how much each person drank. They would put down a P for each Pint and a Q for each quart. The Barmaids were always admonished to "Mind their Ps and Qs". Once everyone found out how the Germans were drinking their beer by the Liter and theirs was COLD, I think the Ps & Qs kind of fell out of favor.

He might just respond anyway. Forrest is in to origins of old sayings too. If I missed the mark at all he will chime in. You know from talking to me that we are both kind of strange that way. We can't resist making a comment about trivia.

Just make sure you get PROPER pints & quarts, none of your half-measures that you serve in the States!
