Anyone know of a company doing NDT testing in Houston area to comply with AD 2008-04-09?

Strut testing is running $200 - $300 not including the installation/removal/treatment, etc.

So from an economical standpoint, yes, testing is likely a better value but increased hassle. Not sure why the value would reduce $5K if you don't have sealed ones as they could be installed for much less than that. Guess it depends on what the buyer wants. From a safety standpoint I don't think there is an advantage either way.

You have to test the struts every 4 years for land planes?

Yes and if one of them fails, you are still required to buy new struts. Tim

If one of them fails you don't have to buy new struts. You only have to replace the one that failed. It can be replaced with a used strut that passes the inspection.

Had the ones I put on tested... they were like new inside.... sorry you have had such a bad time but sounds from your posts like you come by it honest. Good struts are good struts... and I won't live long enough to make up the difference. Also taking you struts off once every 4 years let you inspect the fittings which as we all know do wear out. So in my case better to be safe then cause yet another dumb AD
