I''m ribstitching my tailfeathers and find my left thumbnail is taking a beating. You have the same problem? how did you address it? use a tongue depressor instead? - Mike

    Re: Rib stitching and thumbnails

I don't remember thumb nail problems, but I would get splits in the skin on the sides of my first knuckles on a couple fingers. I would tape them up with cloth tape to protect them. Tom

Tape your fingers with athletic tape. Waxed lacing cord will cut you fast if you are not careful. Tim

        Hi Mike,

Move your thumb out of the way when the needle comes thru!

So you guys aren't using your thumbnail to hold the knot in place or to shove the knot into the hole in the fabric? - Mike

That's funny, I just heard Mike's palm slap his forehead. All the way down here in Virginia.

Don't feel bad Mike, you aren't the first by a long shot. ;-)

If you are a member of EAA there are some excellent videos online about the various knots and how to do them.
