If memory serves me correctly shippping with the post office was 11.95 each way. The last time I loaned it out it didn't work for the individual so I'm afraid to loan it out because of the cost if iit dosen't work. We just changed our bungees and it worked OK.

        Sure I'll rent one.

        $40 rental fee
        $14 shipping
        $54 total

Send me $140 deposit up front and I'll send you back $140-$54=$86 when you return the tool in good condition.

                      Re: BC12D Bungee tool

Is there something different or better about this tool over the one one of our guys sells? I seem to remember his price was pretty low (at least low enough that I wouldn't go to all the trouble to build one over buying one).
If this drawing has some feature that makes it better how about someone building a bunch of them (like maybe whoever built the first ones) and those of us who don't have the time or ability to make one could buy it.

                        Re: BC12D Bungee tool

I'd highly recommend buying David Rude's bungee tool. It works very well, is extremely solidly built, and is simple to use. Sure, if I'd had drawings I probably could've built one myself, but it would've taken quite a bit of trial and error and tinkering to get it right. I might have damaged myself or my airplane in the process. Just one person's opinion.

                          Re: BC12D Bungee tool

I agree with Josh and Hank, however, I don' think anyone really offered that solution as Chris was looking to rent one. I didn't catch this thread until now and could also have recommended David's tool for purchase.
                          Cheers,

                            Re: BC12D Bungee tool

I couldn't remember it was Dave who was making them. I guess one of my points was that if this new design has features that improve on Dave's' design maybe he would incorporate those changes in his. I can't imagine building one for what he charges ince he has pretty much got the manufacture process down now. He can probably kick one out in 1/10th the time we could build one.
There is nothing like a good learning curve to cut costs!

Owning one of Dave's bungee installation tools is a pretty good deal. I recommend it highly. Having mine makes me tend to replace the bungees more often. I think that is a good idea. I certainly would not build one considering the effort vs the price.
