I was wondering if anyone had any pictures on how to mount the wheel pants for a 1946 Tcraft. I paid 165.00 for the brakets from Wagaero but got nothing in the line of instructions for them. Thanks

Re: wheel pants
The inboard mounting bracket bolts to the landing gear drag strut just inboard of the brake. The pant then bolts to the bracket with 5 AN-3 bolts. The outboard side of the pant is supported by a bolt that threads into a special axle cap nut that holds the wheel on the axle and provides stock for the mounting bolt to thread into. Hope that helps

Re: wheel pants
Don't know if this will help but this is an original wheel pant fitting. The "bulge" has a bolt hole through it that attaches to the the landing gear strut. The holes in the flat part are the ones the previous message was talking about that bot the fitting to the pant. The open bottom goes around the axle.

Re: wheel pants
Ray,
If I can get out to the hangar tomorrow I will take some closeups of the brackets mounted to the gear leg as well as the threaded nut that supports the outside of the pant.Cheers,

Re: wheel pants
Yet another type of wheel fairing mounts.
The mushroom shaped thing goes into outboard end the hollow axle and is secured with that big cotter pin. The other, larger part is secured by the gear bolt and uses 3(?) An3 bolts into the fairing. Inside the fairing are 3(?) nut plates.Bob Gustafson

Re: wheel pants
I have a set of the welded sheet fittings and a set if the cast ones. The originals were cast, but the welded sheet ones are FAR Better. The cast ones tend to crack. If I was going to AirVenture to campaign my plane I would take the cast ones with me and put them on there. I don't think I would want to fly the cast ones too much. I have several cracked ones around.

Re: wheel pants
Ok thats what I thought could not seem to get to work any other way. How does the outboard part attach the outboard part of the wheel. I know the bolt runs through the outboard part of the wheel pant but how does it secure to the outboard side of the wheel.Live for today for we know not what tomorrow holds

Re: wheel pants
Ray,
I went out to the hangar today to take pictures of the bracket and hex nut. Unfortunately, my camera's battery died. My bracket is like the one just above these posts, simple flat bracket, kind of kidney shaped. I will go out tomorrow to take pictures of the bracket and nut and post them.Cheers,
Marty
