Well after a long hiatus I purchased a 1941 BC12. So back into the fold. I will be building a Clip Wing. Hope its as light as the last one. Will be going with A stroker 85 no electric. Need to research the best prop for THAT set up. Glad to be back with the fine folks. Forrest let me know what TF 144 owes the foundation. Best all and Happy Thanksgiving ! JIM

Yes indeed hopeful on the stroker/ Hear lots of good about it.
The prop that cam with the project is a 74 45 mac (Still in overhaul wrapper) Not sure if the pumped up 85(and clip wings) will need a different combo or not. Any way Old Xen Motisinger down here told me to try it as "longer is generally better" Any advice on the prop is welcomed.

The 7445 will be too long for the 85. We have a McCauley 7048 fitted, and with the (estimated) 98hp it develops, can cruise at 120mph at just under redline, if we want.
(Although at 100 mph and 2200rpm, where we normally operate it, it burns exactly the same amount of fuel as the old 65!)
Don't chop down the overhauled 7445; they are relatively valuable. Our 7048 came from a propstrike, and the cost of the overhaul/NDT inspection & paint job was less than half the cost of a new prop.

I am currently rebuilding my C-85 on my L2B with the O200 conversion. The prop I have been using is a 7248 wooden prop. It gives me about 92 MPH cruise at 2350 RPM. Climb performance is fine for my use.
I am looking at going to a metal prop. Any suggestions? Would like to get a little more cruise speed with out more RPM.Tom Peters

Robert , thank you for the advice on the prop. I kinda thouught a shorter prop with some pitch would be the answer, Yes I am not going to chop up the 74/45 as my old timer told me the same thing basically...its a bit more valuable than average given length. Will sell her for right price.( fair though)
Thanks again Robert. I look foward to the clip performance with the stroker PLUS some higher compression pistions, C-90 cam and ported intake with a balance job and ellison injector. But way ahead here now. Long way to go

For the C-90 cam to work well you need a free flowing exhaust. Like the Luscombe dual exhaust. The C-90 powered clip wing that is here at my airport uses a 69-50 prop. We tried a longer prop. The performance was about the same, but it did not come up to RPM as quickly and was about 10 pounds heavier. Plus greater gyroscopic forces. Tom

Hmm thanks all.I will do more rersearch on the cam. I was planning on the Luscombe exhaust. Kevin I had another guy PM me yesterday on the prop. No hurry to sell right now anyhow. Want to do more research there too then let yall know something.. Also have a A-75 that came with it (it is an original A-75 from Continental as the tag and logs show) want to consider what I will do with this complete engine also. Thanks again all. Thanks Kevin. Yup the Luscombe exhaust seems to be the way to go. Thanks for the heads up on the Gasculator location. Thats interesting that the 74/45 works well with the 0-200 on the T. I will let you know something on the prop when appropriate . Robert Lees reports great things on the Stroker with a 70/48 and Tom mentioned a C-90 clip using a 69/50 with a clip wing out there in Illinois.Well now that those numbers are in
I turn now to a Carb question. Robert has the stroker so he knows what he is using on that set up. Soo Robert with the Stroker were you able to stay with a Strom or did you go to the Marv? You are still certified I will not be so was thinking about the Ellison Injection...again clue less in SC !!
