  • Window Latch

What is everyone doing about the window latch's for the swing out windows? Mine are missing.
I looked at the Cessna 120/140/170 latches, but Univair wants $277 for each assembly (I need 2 assemblies).
Anyone have a nice pair of the Tcraft or cessna latches for sale?

    Thoughts, comments, ideas?

    Thanks,

    Re: Window Latch

The latch isn't that complex. With a couple of HDF forms you could make the parts. Add a threaded knob from a woodworking store or a good hardware store and you are in business, for a LOT less than $554! You should be able to make both sets in half a day.

        Re: Window Latch

Could someone post some pictures of the latches? Some idea of size would be good. I don't have any for my project, so I don't have anything to copy.

I'll put it on my list to trace the latch parts on Monday at the airport.

I don't know if the pictures will help or not. Unless you have some latches to copy I think it will be difficult. The left and right are unique. Anyway if can use the one pattern, I'll send it to you.

                Re: Window Latch

Mine were mirror image of each other so you could just bend the metal the other way to make a right or left. I am hoping I can make a template on graph paper so it can be scaled from a photo.
Do you know what material and thickness you used?

Not sure if this will help, either.

Wow! Those are some ugly rivets. Never noticed that before!

If I can get a CAD drawing of the latches, I can get them punched out and bent by a PMA shop...Tim
