Tore into the panel/control system last weekend. Wanted to get a good look at the aileron sprockets and work on the main tank fuel shutoff valve. It was fairly easy to take the fuel valve apart in place and relube it with fuel lube. Works like a charm now. Look at what I found with my aileron control sprockets.....they are both on backwards. The little stop pin turns merrily past its limits without a care in the world. Glad I looked into it.

Re: Bass ackwards
Scary isn't it. Every time I hear something on the group I go out that weekend and look for it on my plane. Only found a couple of things over the years that could get me killed so far (an electrical problem with a bare wire next to the fuel tank and the fuel cut off valve that didn't work attached to a glued in rubber hose. )
While I was looking I Have found a LOT of improper safety wires and missing cotter keys. It never seems to be the places where they could be seen on an inspection, the annuals catch those. You have to put your hands in and feel for the dumb things where you can't see. The fuel cut off and bad hose were not visible till I took the boot cowl off.

Re: Bass ackwards
There's an AD on this too, AD 78-20-11, that applies only to certain B model and F19's (I think), but it's worth checking on all the B models as a matter of course.

George....yes, I will be in Brodhead this weekend. Tent camping back by the center woods. Plan on being there Friday morning thru Sunday morning.
Attached are more pics showing the intent of the pin stop. The first pic shows the sprocket on backwards and the pin facing forward(useless). Next pic shows the welded on stops on the left control column. Next pic shows the sproket on correctly and the relationship between the stop pin and the stops. Last pic shows the oil hole....which was painted over and plugged on both sides of my control.MIKE CUSHWAY

Re: Bass ackwards
The lubrication chart has been done. I forget the gentleman's name, but I believe he monitors this forum. He used to attend the Taylorcraft fly-in at Columbia, CA every year.
It is a professionally done chart with heavy lamination. It shows every possible place to lube on a Taylorcraft, BC12D I think. If he doesn't jump on here soon, someone PM me and I will scan my copy and send it to Robert Lees for posting on the archive section.Richard Pearson

Re: Bass ackwards
I've created a new stuck thread called "Annual Inspection Manual proposal. Take a look.
Other matters directly relating to this thread can stay here.
