What are a set of landing gear worth these days?

I don't know, but I've got my eye out for gear that is straight with no splices for my BC12D. You wouldn't happen have any, would you?

      Re: Landing Gear value

I had a need some years back. Ran an ad in trade a plane. Lots of landings gears seemed to be available. Bought a set for $300.00 and a promise to be fair to anyone I sold taylorcraft parts to.

No, I don't have a set. I'm looking to make a set of "heavy duty/ski" gear.

Levi at Air Forms in Big Lake could make a set and Steve at Atlee's can do it. Plan on about a grand or more for the pair though. Tim

Wow, you could get the extended Super Cub gear for that.

It would require the same processes and a fixture to be made from an original gear. Its time and money. Tim

Besides, the Super Cub gear won't fit. ;-)

There are 3 taylorcraft airplanes in Alaska with modified cub gear installed and approved. Tim

                      Re: Landing Gear value

I was joking, but after working on both kinds of gear I would love to see the mods needed to fit a Cub gear to a Taylorcraft. Seems like you would need to change pretty much everything welded to the lower longerons!

I know that Alsworths modified 3 aircraft, put 180 Lyc and cub cowls, super cub style gear, adjustable seats, removed the bar from behind the seat. I think that most of his mods were used as basis for the F-21/22 series aircraft. Tim

I hope they did some analysis before they cut the tube from behind the seat. That is a pretty important piece of structure in the pre-war fuselage! I don't know what changes were made to the F-21/22 fuselage to shed the loads around that area.

I saw one F-19 in Port Alsworth with a 160hp, SC gear, and bush wheels. It was yellow with a large lightning bolt, talk about a "TaylorCub"
