Does anyone have a drawing showing the installation of the internal baffles for a BC-12 D? My A-65 has a narrow alumin channel resing on the cooling fins spanning between each bank of cylinders with a hole which takes a small bolt to secure the internal baffel located below/between the cylinders. There are two baffels shaped line a "V" and two others with circular shapes with small coiled springs atached... Would greatly appreciate any information that could be provided.... N96323..........

    Bob,
That's what it is supposed to look like. The "V" part should have a curve to it and a flat bottom. The bottom should be wide enough to just fill the space between the cooling fins and the curved parts of the V should be snug against the fins. This forces all the air through the fins instead of over the top.
My 41 had a cross beam shaped like a deep "U" that sat up in the fins bridging between the cylinders. The long skinny bolt pulls the "V" down between the cylinders and the "U" beam holds it there.
I'll see if I have a picture of it somewhere and post it if someone else doesn't have a prettier engine compartment.

Not sure what you are describing with the circles.

      Hank:

Thank you for the information regarding the "V" installation. I will try to send a photo of the other baffels w/springs.

This is the baffel I was refering to. I placed these between the 2 cylinders on the underneath side and attached them to the small channel on top with small bolts. I attached the springs on the push rod tubes which seemed the most likley place.

I also have 2 small "V" baffles with at hole in the center on the "V" end.
Not certain where each should be installed/located.

Just had the A-65 majored by Aero Engines and want to be sure of the cooling..planning to make the first flight tomorrow and need all the help I can get!

Thank you and all for any guidance you can share...

That spring should attach to the front and rear baffle. The baffle you show in you picture should make contact with the cooling fins all the way to where the spring attaches. The front and rear baffles should also rap under and around the cooling fins as well. Tom

Tried to get to the airport today and ran into a major traffic stop. Turned around and went back home. Finally get a day nice enough to go out and a #^@*#^&!# TRAFFIC ACCIDENT stops me. Just hasn't been my winter.
The drawing is the piece that should be in contact with the cooling fins, like was said earlier.
What we need is a good photo. That would tell you almost everything you need.
