How do you replace the bushing in the landing gear where the bolts attach to the fuselage? I am not even sure mine need to be replaced but before I cover them I thought I would check.

Looking at the landing gear, it appears that the bushing is not replaceable unless you cut out the whole fitting and replace the fitting. You can check the hole size in the bushing, using a close tolerence bolt and check for excessive play. Hope this helps Rex.

Looking at the L-2 gear it has a bushing. The part numbers suggest the B models also have a bushing. I will attach the drawings for the L-2 which use an A pre-fix.
Robert Lees website shows an excellent tool for driving out old bushings and driving in new bushings. His was made for the control surface bushings and if you search on this site or Robert's you should be able to find it. Change the dimensions for the landing gear and you have the tool you need. I made one for my control bushings and landing gear and it works great.Ron Greene

The last one I did I couldn't get the bushing to drive out, so I had to drill it. The new bushings were available from Wag Aero. Remember to remove the small screw and drill a small hole in the new bushing for the oil to weap through. Tom

Many moons ago ( like 15 years ago) I rebushed my main gear, and I made a drift (like the tailfeather one) to drive the old ones out & the new ones in. If I still had it (I probably do...it's just buried in all the junk) I could take measurements.
If I were to do the same now, I would make new bushings out of phosphor bronze (much more hard-wearing than oilite).
As Tom says, after fitting, drill to allow the oil to get through to the bearing surface between the bushing & bolt.

(I'm now an expert on overhauling & rebushing Bonanza gear legs too. Do you know how many bolts have to be certified as crack-free on a Bonanza? And how many odd-size reamers you need to ream the bushings in situ?)

Thanks to all. I will just take a old rusty bolt and beat the crap out of it till it comes out. Just kidding. I will machine a drift and push it out. My real concern was if it was removeable. I should have all kinds of drifts from working on those fine Austin Healey's and Austin Minis for the UK. They have more bushings than a Bonaza Rob.
