  • How many in 1946?

It seems like most T-craft are BC12-Ds made in 1946. They musta really been cranking out airplanes that year. Anyone know how many were produced?

If you got Chet's book it gives production numbers of all models

As a ball park, 30 per day from March to August. That makes 6300 in 1946, and probably not too far off the mark.

Within a factor of 2...not bad for someone who failed UK Maths "O" level in 1976.

Lousey - remember the trip to Lambley Rob, only 20 miles up the road and you ended up in Scotland!!

Been there too. Landed 25 miles beyond my intended on a crystal clear night! Was I surprised when instead of grass under my wheels, there was 200 ft wide concrete - and a bunch of military ships on the ramp. Luckily it was a joint use field with no tower, so I took off and found the right field.

                  OK, we'll say 4000 in 1946.

I'm writing an update on my T-craft restoration for our local EAA newsletter and I thought it might be interesting to have some BC12-D production figures from that era.

Mine was built August 5th of 46' and its serial number is 9820...don't know how the serial relates to production numbers but there must have been a lot of ships built that year in anticipation of the post war flying boom that didn't happen until about 1978..ha
