specs. F-19

Can anyone tell me how to find specifics on the history of manufacturer designs/options.
I am repairing a storm damaged F-19 with what appears to be original Lycoming 0235 and disc/toe brakes. It has low time and little (0) paperwork.

F19's only came with Continental O200 I believe. F21's and F22's had Lycomings. The Type Certificate can be found on the home page of this site under Technical Info.

how about ser# , n number, data plate?? All F-19's were 0-200 .

If it is a Taylorcraft, with a factory 115 hp Lycoming in it , there should be a counteweight in the tail section. I do not recall exact weight or location, but i am positive, others on this forum will be able to tell you. Marv

It is 7 lbs and mounted right in front of the tail post.

I have seen this airplane in person and it has all the tell-tell signs of an F-19 but with an 0235 mounted on it. Maybe it's a prototype or one of the very first F-21's.

The F-21 WAS an F-19 with a Lyc. 118 HP I flew the tests.
No tail ballast required. What does the ser# or data plate say??

From the Type Data sheet :

"III - Model F21, 2 PCLM (Normal or Utility Category), Approved July 2, 1980
The Model F21 is similar to the Model F19 except for the installation of a Lycoming 0-235-L2C engine, baffles, cowling,engine mount, and hydraulic brakes. "

No F-19 had the toe brakes from the factory. The ballast was later on. Read the TC 1A9 . ALL the placards are listed on it. bye

Does it have the large wing tanks ?

That would be a F-21A. The earlier F-21's had the small tanks and 12 gal header. I don't know that there was a tail weight with the large tanks since removal of the header tank would move the CG back.
