    Splices are Ok, but I would never do one for liability reasons. If you have a prewar wing and a postwar, do you have built up ribs on one side and stamped on the other? I have seen it before, and due to the difference in weight between the wings, I don't recommend leaving one that way.

      If the repair is performed IAW 43.13 what lilability is there? Its a 67 year old airplane. If I was always worried about lilability, I would never sign off anything in any log book, Its just part of Aviation. Tim

          The liabilty is even if it was done in accordance with AC43, if is still a potential point to re-fail that is now directly tied to the mechanic. If the spar is replaced with a PMA part, the only liability is with the installation itself. I remember an IA refresher course years ago, and the teacher said "when filling out log books, make sure you address them.....Dear Judge".
