    Buell, thanks for those pictures, it is interesting to see how they have been done. Whatever we do will be slightly different because the doors have perspex panels in the lower half but I like the way yours look.

      Deluxe's are HEAVY! The fricken doors way a ton. Empty on my Deluxe with -12 installation, dual tanks, was 925!

        My doors seem heavy too but have only paint on the aluminum, in and out. I think I have steel frame door covered with alum, again in and out. Using a magnet I get a little stick at the outer frame area but the skin thickness keeps me from getting a good indication so am guessing about the steel frame. The window frame is steel, can that be duplicated in aluminum? Larry

          My 41 Delux is just a project. Both doors are wood. The log book from 1941 shows an empty wt of 741#.

            Don't trust the original factory weight. You need to weigh your plane and do a REAL weight and balance on it. They ALL seem to have the same weights from the factory. I think they only weighed the first one.
