  • Your longest Taylorcraft flight

What’s the farthest you have flown you beautiful airplane?

I flew mine from South Carolina down to Sebring, Fla. where a friend was racing his car. We were there in the pits for 3 days before I flew home. What a trip, I can’t wait to fly again!

With all this nasty AD talk I need to hear some good ole flying tales!

For me it was Boulder Colorado back home to Burlington, NC in the clipwing. It took me 3 days but was well worth it. I still keep in touch with people I met along the way.

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.

Canby, Oregon to Bay St. Louis, Miss. including weather delays, longer than I care to admit, however I must say, as the years go by, it seems more enjoyable each year

From Central City, Nebraska, where I bought my BC12 D, to Sandpoint ,Idaho. I overnighted in
Spearfish, South Dakota, due to thunderstorms, and then into Sandpoint
the following day. Made 7 fuel stops. Beautiful flight, beautiful scenery.

I flew from south of Atlanta to someplace in Kansas. It took parts of three different days to get there and we flew back all in one very long day. One of our pilots flew that same plane from the Atlanta area to San Diego, CA and back. Better him than me, I don't have that much padding... Another one of our pilots flew it from here to OshKosh and back. Most of the time we stay within about 100 miles of base. (BC-12D 100hp non electric)

Bringing my baby home. Borrego Springs ( about even with San Diego) CA up to here which is about even with San Jose. About 370 miles non-stop. Had plenty of time in Taylorcrafts, but hadn't flown a taildragger in several years.
Didn't drink but a few sips of water all day for obvious reasons, and when I got down my friend said I looked awful. Drank about 4 glasses of water LOL.

Just north of Borrego there is a really barren pass that looks like a giant crevice with long pointy spires of rock sticking up everywhere. Really nasty looking stuff. Found myself hoping that somebody put the engine together right. Got to fly by Edwards AFB and look straight down the runway. First experience with GPS navigation, run along the track checking waypoints on the chart. Neat way to travel.

From Trapper creek Alaska to Oshkosh and when on to Chicago, from there to glennie, Michigan, when to Port huron, Michigan, and when to seattle, Wa and from there back to Trapper Creek, Alaska. Counting all the airplane rides that I gave along the way to everyone I came in contact with, it took about 130 hours flying time. I would do it again in a heatbeat. I used to fish spot with my T-craft would log 10 hours a day for many a day, I have totally used up a couple of sling seats. I had one tear right through when I was flying along, that got real interesting. Cub drivers are alway saying why don't you get a real airplane and I just say my T-craft is as real as it gets.

Oklahoma City, OK to Jacksonville, FL. Delivered to new owner after selling it on Ebay for a friend. Took 5 days, 2 dead mags, and dodging multiple thunderstorms.
