maybe ,maybe the comment period is over, the revision is on the way, time will be extended... enough input and data is there now. I will let the FAA & Factory announce first but at least 48 months is reasonable & maybe more.
Especially if the inspection data shows taht the extension is reasonable. There are BAD struts out there, just not a lot of them.

REAL soon!! This week soon! I am letting the factory lead on this one, we will be right behind; OR you fellows out there may see it before me!

I posted on another thread that I have been working with Harry Ingram, at the Taylorcraft factory; Lee Budde at Airframes Inc.; the gang at Univair & the other gang at Wag-Aero , may the best man or lady win!

Hi Forrest,
I just recieved the STC from the FAA. We are in full swing production and will have 20 sets completed monday with more built every following day. Thanks for your help and guidance. I'm glad we can give the T-craft guys a less expensive option. Some details; shipping is considerably cheaper if two or more orders can be shipped together. They will be supplied in "boeing primer". Folks can order from us by calling us at 907-892-8244. We take credit cards, I will fax you a copy of the STC on monday if you like.

Tribe, Just Talked to Levi at Airframes. Our struts are on the way today with UPS. They will call tomorrow with tracking numbers.

I need to keep my big mouth shut, changes are coming, now maybe two weeks, I am now sworn to keep secret squirrel info under wraps. call for any tribal information.
As to Univair , yes anything shipped from Univair to the Feris era Taylorcraft factory was indeed "Mild" steel; taht was what Univair ahd to supply ; HOWEVER , we built the whole fuselage out of 4130 and many sets of struts too!!

A little off the subject but I bought a new rt. front lift strut for my 46 BC12D and found that the old clamps are too small. Any idea where I can get new ones that fit? I got them from Univair and they say they do not have the new clamps.

Airframes inc...for new clamps, give them the major and minor dim's and see if they have them. Tim

This has probably been covered but Univair has droped its price on struts by around $230.00

Aircraft spruce also sells 4130 strips in 5/8" to make new ones-You might check yours but I believe they should be .050.

4130 will be very stiff, mild steel will be easier to work and install.

If you have done it already with that 4130 stock maybe you can comment.

I suspect the drawing will indicate a mild carbon steel.

Perhaps Forrest can verify that.

Dan, What was Airframes' quote for shipping to MD? I'm ordering mine today. Wonder if there is an advantage in a local group shipment??? Howard

I was on vacation -- just got back -- sorry didn't check with you earlier. Airframes quoted 2-3 weeks for shipment and shipped mine in 2 weeks. They are due in next week.

Just to update you guys. We have been busy getting together our reports to add the F-22, F-21, F-19 and the balance of the "B" series to our model applicability for our T-Craft Lift struts. Our DER finished up getting his report together for the front struts on Monday and he is working on the rear struts now. Once we have prepaired our packet, it will go to the FAA for review. FYI the report for the front struts alone is 104 pages long!

I have talked to a few of you owners in the last week and I know this issue is a major concern for you. I understand and we are working towards a resolution. Once we turn things over to the FAA we will try to impress upon them the importance of running this information through their system ASAP.
