Good question. Can someone measure the major & minor diameters, please?

    Carl
How much larger are they, and could you put up a picture of them.
    Thanks.

I received my new struts today from Airframes, Inc. They came nicely boxed in a custom made plywood packing crate. They arrived in 10 days to Iowa just as Lee said they would. I had been #4 on the waiting list so I got a set from the first 20 they shipped.

I'm real happy with their service and product.

If they are normally using 4130 for the straps then I suppose it makes sense to do the same.

I have modifed a number of them to fit newer streamline tube shapes and the ones where I had to add material to make the shape fit and I added 4130 have been very stiff.

Also forming 4130 around the trailing edge maybe more difficult because of the small bend radius required, watch for cracking.

I called Airframes, Inc. and they are over nighting two twelve inch stock of 4130 .050. My mechanic recomended not using mild carbon steel.

Just to update you guys. We have been busy getting together our reports to add the F-22, F-21, F-19 and the balance of the "B" series to our model applicability for our T-Craft Lift struts. Our DER finished up getting his report together for the front struts on Monday and he is working on the rear struts now. Once we have prepaired our packet, it will go to the FAA for review. FYI the report for the front struts alone is 104 pages long!

I have talked to a few of you owners in the last week and I know this issue is a major concern for you. I understand and we are working towards a resolution. Once we turn things over to the FAA we will try to impress upon them the importance of running this information through their system ASAP.

    Happy Flying

I was on vacation -- just got back -- sorry didn't check with you earlier. Airframes quoted 2-3 weeks for shipment and shipped mine in 2 weeks. They are due in next week.

4130 will be very stiff, mild steel will be easier to work and install.

If you have done it already with that 4130 stock maybe you can comment.

I suspect the drawing will indicate a mild carbon steel.

    Perhaps Forrest can verify that.

This has probably been covered but Univair has droped its price on struts by around $230.00

Airframes inc...for new clamps, give them the major and minor dim's and see if they have them. Tim
