  • Epoxy Varnish- where needed?

I know that spar varnish and the solvents used in the Poly-Fiber system are incompatible, so if fabric is going to be secured to varnished wood, then the wood needs to be treated with epoxy varnish.

Where on a Tcraft do we glue fabric to wood? - MikeH

      Mike,
Just use the epoxy varnish on all the wood,it won't cost you that much more and it will pay off in 30 years or more.

        Hi Kevin -
Perhaps you have a better supplier than I do!
        The Millers sell a quart kit(base, reducer,thinner) for $65.
        Spar varnish is about $17/qt.
Is there an epoxy varnish that will stand up to PolyFiber's glue that's not sold as aircraft specific? - MikeH

I used Veneziani Resina 2000 epoxy varnish, very good. From a boat builder.

I used Polyfiber's Epoxy Varnish on all the wood...figured if I was going to cut corners on basics, I was done for anyway. I'd rather throw another $50 in and know what I have is going to last, than save the $50 and have wood that needed replacing before the fabric does.

Pay the extra and eliminate the worry. You have 7 pieces on a standard, (way more if a DeLuxe) of wood that are glued to in the blanket method. The 4 tapered pieces should have tape wrapped around them before being covered. I think the winshield former is also wrapped.
